We stayed two nights and had a great time! We booked online and got site 29. It was very spacious and felt pretty secluded from the other sites. The site is down a little below the parking spot so you're not directly by the road. There were three pit toilets right across from the site but they were very clean and I could only smell it maybe once or twice. The water was a few sites down so pretty close.
The campsite was completely booked when we got there and we could definitely hear people in the other sites and could tell some people at a site far from us were playing loud music around 9:45pm. There is a camp host in the morning but they leave in the afternoon.
There are no showers but we were able to drive to the Idyllwild Campground and get shower tokens and use their showers (a little inconvenient but nice after a long hike).
Very cool campground! Not just a typical rectangle of dirt campsite. Each campsite is pretty large and nestled amongst trees. Only vault toilets so come prepared with hand washing supplies!
The campground was lovely, there were plenty of trees to hang hammocks from and it was well kept. There were so many mosquitoes and fire ants, which was the only downside but I feel like is summers fault and not the campgrounds. They had water and simple toilets and my reservation was easy. Will come back! I went in July and it was hot during the day (we went into the town) and lovely and cool at night
Great campground, came up here early may midweek and found the campground literally to myself! Very friendly campground host who even helped me load wood in the trunk. No showers and the bathrooms are pot toilets, however these were the cleanest pit toilet bathrooms I've ever encountered, they weren't even stinky. If your a fisherman there are 2 lakes nearby but one of them is currently closed for renovations and the other turns out to be a private lake so if you insist on fishing you have to drive to Hemet lake. Loved the privacy of this campground however I'm sure weekends are a whole different beast. Some sites looked a little close to others.
Pretty campground, but not maintained with safety in mind. Our camp site was located down a hill with no steps to get out of it. I broke my ankle, trying to get to the bathroom. Also, there are no showers or flush toilets. They stunk really bad....and, when I booked the campsite they said we could have a campfire. When we got there, we couldn't. We froze our butts off!
I Stayed at Stone Creek campground towards the end of Sept, the weather was perfect and the night sky was clear for some pictures of Jupiter . It was my first time at this campground and I have nothing bad to say about it. It has everything you need for a little getaway. The site we chose was perfect, we were surrounded by trees and bushes and had a lot of privacy. Their was a fire ban which sucked but I went prepared and took my propane fire pit. Will be coming back again in Oct.
We stayed at stone Creek for two nights and 3 days. The campsite was clean and the camp host was very kind and helpful. There's an easy 1 mile loop right off the camp and then a longer more intense hike also right off the campgrounds. Town is only about 20 minutes away as well. The sites looked nice, privacy seems to vary between sites. We had site 8 and it was great. I'd recommend any site around the outer loop. The inner sites are much closer together with little ground cover In between.
Disclaimer: I camped here in early October: both in COVID conditions and extreme wildfire danger, so no campfires were allowed and all trails were closed.
With that being said, I will totally camp here again. I love being in the mountains, close enough to Idyllwild to venture into town with an easy 10-minute drive, but far enough from the high volume of tourists to feel at peace.
This campground has pit toilets only, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for flush toilets and showers. However, there’s potable water taps in several places in the campground.
Friendly ranger and camp hosts. Beautiful place!
